The Cenacle

I'm so glad that I discovered woodworking! I also was so happy to do a good amount of it on the feast of St. Joseph. How fitting!

This is my latest project. It's a special material being prepared to help Sister Stinky celebrate Holy Week.

It's born of my love of Catechesis of the Good Shepherd. and will hopefully be the beginning of a beautiful little Atrium corner for my little girl. I've made this material once before, for a class that I taught for children with special needs. Can you guess what it is? I am sooo excited!

On a similar note, I've made some headway in reading Dr. Montessori's Own Handbook. (Participating in a GOP caucus this past Saturday contributed greatly to my progress. What an interesting but long process!!! That's another post for another day.) I've also been reading this book and this book and have been so inspired to start doing some simple Montessori work with Sister Stinky. I love this pedagogy's emphasis on silence especially...a much needed reminder in our busy, noisy world!

Check back tomorrow for Pretty, Happy, Funny, Real!

  1. Oh my gosh, I love the idea of Holy Thursday/Last Supper figurines! As someone who is very much a visual learner, I would totally love them and "The Good Shepherd" ones the Abbott made. I can't wait to see how they turn out!

  2. i want to steal your good shepherd wooden toys. so much. :D
