{phfr} Waiting...

Linking up with Like Mother, Like Daughter, as always! Hop on over their to get your contentment fix for the day!

{pretty}

I finally found a place to buy the plastic pool that is reminiscent of the one I had when I was little! Toy 'R Us, friends! Only $8 and worth every penny! As I'm getting close to the arrival of my second little girl (and in preparation for wanting to just nest at home after she's born) I thought it'd be a good idea for us to have a wading pool of our own. I think I've mentioned before that we have a Community pool just about a block from our house (as the bird flies) and Sister Stinky and I have spent SOOOO much time there already this summer! But, realistically, I know that it won't be possible to go over there nearly enough once Baby Sister makes her entrance, so this seemed like a good solution! And besides, is there anything more beautiful to a mama's eyes than the sight of her little sun-tanned offspring splashing in a pool on a sunny day? I think not.

{happy}

Oh, friends, I have been bitten by the nesting bug! I've been steadily working through every task I can imagine, trying to get all ready for Baby Sister. The top was the kitchen rug I recently finished crocheting to replace the decrepit one that laying there before (that was actually a rug I'd had since high school...so it was time to say farewell!) The bottom is MUST CROCHET ALL THE HEADBANDS. The Abbot and I decided not to do a big sibling gift for Sister Stinky, but I wanted to do something to commemorate the fact that she now has a sister! So, I'm crocheting some matching headbands for her and her sister - one in Sister Stinky size and one in baby size. I'm planning on having Baby Sister wear one when she meets her big sister, and then giving Stinky one at that time. Just a small way to initiate into the fun world of sisters. ;-)

Um, and true confession...I'm pretty sure that the newest member of our family will be fairly bald and this is part of my way of declaring her femininity to the world. You wouldn't believe how many times people guessed the once semi-bald Sister Stinky was a boy...

{funny}

Once I suggested that she wash her little car she went to town! I even caught her walking over to our actual car later in the day, trying to wash that one, too.

{real}

With foot care treatment like this, who needs a spa?

Waiting. Waiting. Waiting.

(Okay, in the interest of full disclosure, I'm just waiting for our guests to arrive for our 4th of July bash. But you get the idea.)

Now full-fledged waiting for the birth of this child. The doctor says he's fine with her making her entrance whenever at this point, which is a definite relief.

I've had a number of signs that mean that labor could be soon (like, within the next week) but those same symptoms could also indicate that labor is weeks off. The uncertainty is driving me crazy this time around, mainly because I've got my oldest baby on the brain. Sister Stinky. With it being summertime, we have friends going in and out of town, and it's driving me mad that I don't know for sure who will be with her when I go into labor. (Don't worry...we definitely have people either way, but I'm not sure which people it will be, because different people are going out of town at different points.) The Abbot's parents are visiting this weekend (I'm very much hoping I can convince my mother-in-law to make and freeze some of her meatloaf and yummy meatball for us!), and there's a tiny part of me that really wishes I'd go into labor while they're here this weekend. I would be soooo relaxed and at ease knowing our big Stinky was with them, because they treat her as only grandparents can. BUT I'm still on the earliest end of this baby being big enough to be born, so I know the odds of that are pretty slim. Please say some prayers for my peace and patience!

Oh, and if any of you experienced mamas of more than one have any kind of advice for me...I would GLADLY welcome it. Put my mind at ease, please!

  1. My kids normally come so late that I don't start planning anything until they are 42 weeks. That way, I don't get too antsy. Buuuuut sounds like that strategy won't work for you!

    1. Haha...nope! Just lost my mucus plug a couple days ago (tmi?) and already partially dilated and effaced...so I think it'll for sure be before 42 weeks, haha!

  2. Oh I so know how you feel with the waiting on baby. I just had my 37 week appt. and I am measuring 40 cm. I feel huge and it's hot and I'm READY! You look good and glowing in the third trimester, I feel like a moose lol.

  3. Ohhhh those little curls on her forehead are so sweet! I can't wait to see her and baby sister in their matching headbands :)

    I don't know that I have any advice - sounds like you're doing your best to encourage independent play, which is a must once baby sister comes along!

    1. I'm just hoping she keeps some of her curls! They survived the first haircut, so I'm feeling hopeful. :-)

      Excellent...she seems to just be getting to a point where she wants to go off and play by herself...so that's perfect timing!

  5. Good luck with everything! I'll be keeping you in prayer.
    Also, after looking at Sister Stinky's pool and Martha's pool that she blogged about today, I've decided I must get one for P. $8? That sounds great!

    1. $8 at Toys R Us! Totally worth every penny! I looked around at Walmart and Target, but couldn't find the plastic kind, just kind you unroll (like Martha's I think?) and kind that blow up, and since ours has to be in the driveway (our backyard is mosquito infested) I didn't want to get something that could easily get a hole in it. But yeah...lots of affordable options!

  7. Yes! I didn't realize (until last year, when we bought one) how affordable kiddie pools are!! And she looks a lot like you in the top pic :).

    1. Haha, Amy, I think she looks like her daddy! Although, with a second look, I guess I could say she looks just like mommy too!

    2. Oh my goodness...baby pools really are quite affordable! I even realized we can get a bigger sized one for the same price as our pool membership, which is good to know for whenever we leave our lovely abode. Haha...and I think the best is when you look at a picture and a kiddo looks like his or her mom and dad :-) I look at that one and there's something about her little face that totally reminds me of her dad, but her facial expression is straight out of toddler Michele pictures!
